(Calgary, Alberta, Canada) - Press release  -We would like to take this opportunity to inform all South Sudanese across the globe that we had two successful days in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with the Right Honorable James Wani Igga, Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly of South Sudan. During the two days from Friday November 2 to Sunday November 4, the Right Honorable Speaker met in several occasions with Community Elders, Leaders of Lost Boys' and Girls’ Association, SPLA Veterans, Former Red Army Members from Cuba, Spiritual and Community Leaders and the general South Sudanese Public. The Right Honorable Speaker also met with friends of South Sudan through a dinner organized by Samaritan’s Purse in collaboration with the University of Calgary’s Southern Sudan Healthcare Accessibility, Rehabilitation and Education (SSHARE) Program.

The Right Honorable Speaker briefed the audiences about the recently signed agreements between South Sudan and Sudan, discussed government’s development priorities, elaborated how the government is fighting corruption and also had an opportunity to give a lecture about the history of the People of South Sudan. In his meeting with the Samaritan’s Purse and the University of Calgary’s SSHARE Program, the Right Honorable Speaker whole heartedly thanked Samaritan’s Purse and the University of Calgary for training and repatriating 15 South Sudanese doctors.

The Right Honorable Speaker was warmly received with fanfares only accorded to a man of his stature by South Sudanese from all walks of life. However, amidst all the fanfares and celebrations accorded to the Right Honorable Speaker, diehard enemies of South Sudan shamelessly went viral on the internet alleging that the Right Honorable Speaker had been physically attacked in Calgary by someone from Aweil over 14 mile, which is a controversial demilitarized zone agreed in the recently signed agreements between Sudan and South Sudan. We categorically state that there is no such thing as a physical attack. There was no verbal exchange that could indicate such a thing let alone an attack. This allegation was created by none other than Gordon Buay, the Master of South Sudanese Internet Propaganda who has on numerous occasions declared his intention to kill some of the South Sudanese leaders including President Kiir. We condemn this senseless and callous lie and smear in the strongest term possible. The way the Right Honorable Speaker was received by the South Sudanese in Calgary speaks volume of his status as one of the founding fathers and freedom icons of South Sudan.
