Makana jets into Canada to attend international civil aviation convention

(Calgary AB NSV) - Anthony Lino Makana, the government of southern Sudan minister of Roads and Transport arrived this evening in Toronto to attend the 37th session of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal.

The ICAO represents 190 member states. It began its deliberations on Tuesday and ends on October 8th.

This year member states will tackle ways to “substantially improve the safety, the security and the environmental sustainability of the global air transport system,” according to a release by ICAO.

At the time of publication, the minister was expected in Montreal. The head of the GoSS Mission to Ottawa, Mum Majak, said he was expecting the minister to meet with the Sudanese communities in Ontaria. Makana is set to address the Sudanese in Ontario in Toronto. However, it's not yet confirmed when. There is also no word on whether the minister will extend his visit to Western Canada, notably Calgary, where thousands of southern Sudanese reside.
