Manute Bol passed away on Saturday in Virginia after returning on May 12 from southern Sudan where he has been helping rebuild the country after many decades of civil war.
(Virginia NSV) - Southern Sudan's legendary son, Manute Bol, died on Saturday, a month after he was hospitalized in the United States where he was battling kidney failure, said Tom Prichard, director of Sudan Sunrise, a charity group where he has worked with the late hero.
"I am very sorry to pass on the news that Manute Bol died this morning at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, VA," Prichard announced on a Facebook page he set up to update late Bol's fans on his health.
Bol, 47, was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a potentially life threatening skin disease that is triggered by a drug reaction.
The seven-foot-seven philanthropist became famous around the world when he played for NBA from (1985-95) for Washington, Golden State, Philadelphia and Miami.
